From the atelier

Sophestia began with fabric — personalized signs, sashes and runners made for a single ceremony. The same studio now prints wall coverings for the rooms people come home to. Two kinds of work, one habit: choose the material first, then make only what is ordered.

Printed in Houston

Wallpaper and murals are printed to order in Houston, Texas, on HP Latex printers. Nothing waits in a warehouse for a buyer — a panel exists because someone measured a wall.

The materials

Every design is offered in three surfaces — Smooth Vinyl, Peel & Stick Texture and Traditional Texture — so the same artwork can arrive smooth or fabric-like, self-adhesive or pasted. The films we print on include 3M Scotchcal.

A screen cannot show weight or finish. Order a printed sample before committing a wall; the materials and panel guide sets out what to compare.

Sewn in İzmir

The ceremony pieces — welcome signs, chair sashes, table runners, invitations — are made in the İzmir atelier with a small circle of seamstresses. Names and wording are printed; the cutting, stitching, edges and finishing are done by hand. Each piece is made for a single day, ships to you from Houston, and is built to travel home afterwards.

Egemen Onbaşıoğlu

Egemen runs Sophestia from a small atelier in İzmir, working with a trusted circle of seamstresses on the fabric pieces, and with a print studio in Houston for the wall coverings. The material is chosen first — for how it holds ink, takes a fold, or ages — and everything else follows from it.
