Wedding Table Styling: Runners, Chair Sashes and Napkin Ring Favors
Share
Guests spend most of a wedding reception at the table, so the table is where small, personal details are noticed. A good table does not need many pieces. It needs a few that work together: something along the length of the table, something on the chairs and something at each place. This guide covers all three, with the sizes and options that are actually available.
Start with the table runner
A runner gives the table a line to build on and, if it is personalized, turns the sweetheart or head table into a focal point. Our personalized runners are made from linen-look fabric in white or off-white and carry your names, a date or a short line.
Choose the size from your table
Most of our runners come in three sizes:
| Size | Dimensions | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 39 × 20 in | Sweetheart tables, round tables, a cake or gift table |
| Long Table | 59 × 30 in | Longer rectangular tables |
| Banquet | 87 × 40 in | Head tables and long banquet tables |
The Couples Name Wedding Table Runner offers a wider range: 20 × 39 in, 30 × 39 in, 39 × 59 in, 59 × 87 in and 24 × 78 in, plus a custom order option. Measure your table, including how far you want the runner to hang over each end, before you choose. If the venue supplies the tables, ask for their exact dimensions.

Dress the chairs
Chair sashes tie the seating to the rest of the decor and are an easy way to mark special seats. Each sash is $14.90 and comes in two fabric types:
- Canvas, about 4 in (10 cm) wide, in white or natural. The frayed edges suit rustic, boho and garden weddings.
- Satin, about 1.5–2.5 in (4–6 cm) wide, in gray, black, navy, light blue, olive, pink, gold, beige or cream. Satin is the easier way to bring your wedding colors onto the chairs.
Three ways couples use them:
- Reserved seating. Personalized "Reserved" sashes keep the front rows free for family at the ceremony. See the Personalized Reserved Wedding Chair Sash.
- The couple's chairs. A matching pair of sashes marks your seats at the sweetheart or head table.
- The aisle. Sashes on the aisle-end chairs line the walk down the aisle, which is especially effective outdoors. See the Outdoor Wedding Chair Sash.

Finish each place setting
A napkin ring is the one thing every guest touches. Our walnut wood napkin rings can be ordered with or without personalization, from a single sample up to 50 at a time.
- As a favor. The Walnut Wood Napkin Ring is a small keepsake guests can take home.
- As a place card. The Walnut Napkin Ring Place Card carries each guest's name, so it does the job of a place card and a favor at once.
If you are ordering them as place cards, finalize your guest list and seating plan first, and send us the names exactly as you want them to appear. Browse the wedding favors collection.
Remember those who cannot be there
Many couples keep a seat for a loved one who has passed. The Memorial Wedding Chair Banner hangs on a chair in the front row, and the Photo Memorial Wedding Sign adds a photograph. See the memorial collection.
Make it all work together
- Pick one fabric tone. Keep runners and signs in the same white or off-white so they read as a set, and let satin sashes carry the accent color.
- Repeat one detail. Use the same names, date or monogram on the runner, the welcome sign and your linen invitations.
- Leave room on the table. Plates, glasses, centerpieces and candles all need space. A runner that is too wide for the table crowds everything else.
A quick count before you order
Most ordering mistakes are counting mistakes. Before you add anything to your cart, write down:
- Runners: one for each table you want to dress, plus the sweetheart or head table, with the length of each table next to it.
- Chair sashes: the chairs you actually want to mark. That might be two reserved rows, the couple's chairs and the aisle ends, rather than every chair in the room.
- Napkin rings: one per guest, plus a few spares for late additions. They come in quantities of 5 to 50 in steps of 5, so round up.
- Names and wording: for anything personalized, send the final names and wording in one message, spelled exactly as they should appear, and check them again on the proof.
Keep this list with your seating plan. If the guest list changes after you order, tell us before production starts: orders can be changed within 24 hours of placing them, as long as production has not begun.
Order in time
All of these pieces are made to order. For personalized pieces we email a digital proof for your approval, usually within 1–2 business days, and production takes 5–7 business days once you approve it. Ceremony pieces are sewn in our İzmir studio, ship from our warehouse in Houston, Texas, and typically arrive 5–9 business days after dispatch. We recommend ordering at least 3–4 weeks before your wedding; if your date is closer, email us before ordering. Delivery estimates are shown at checkout, and our shipping policy has the details.
